Before You Start
A free CGC account is enough to submit. Paid membership is optional.
Have the exact event name, signer selection, comic details and your payment/return-shipping information ready.
*The State of Comics event must already be approved and visible in CGC's event selector. If you cannot find it, stop and contact us.*
Use one collectible type per order. CGC may separate items that require different services or custom labels.
Complete the Online Submission
Start here: CGC Online Submission Form
- Sign in or create your CGC account. A free account can be used for Signature Series submissions.
- Click Submit in the top right corner followed by the start a new order button.
- Choose the collectible type. Select Comic or Magazine as appropriate. CGC allows only one collectible type per order.
- Select CGC SIGNATURE SERIES
- Under the CGC Authorized Facilitator Event options Select "State of Comics" and the approved event from the available event list. Verify the event and signer before continuing.
- Select Authentication & Grading. Read and accept the terms.
- Select your correct Tier based on the comic you are submitting. Remember, CGC allows only one collectible type per order.
- Add Pressing, Fast Track, restoration removal or High-Res Imaging or only if you want those optional services; they may add cost and processing time.
- Proceed to add each comic.
- Enter the title, issue number, publisher and other requested details. IF you are resubmitting, skip to the next step.
- If you are resubmitting a currently graded comic, check Resubmitting and enter the certification number listed on the graded comic.
- List every signature already on the comic with the signer's name and signing date, then add each new signer's name and signing date for this event. Select the correct number/type of signatures and any event-specific option for every book.
- Add the item to your cart and repeat for each book.
- Review the cart carefully. Confirm every comic, signer, service, declared value, return address, payment method and shipping choice before checkout.
- Submit and save the order number. Download or print any packing slip CGC provides. Your new order may initially show Pending Facilitator Approval until State of Comics reviews it.

IF THE EVENT IS MISSING: Do not choose a similar event or another facilitator. The event may not yet be live in CGC's system, may have closed, or may require different instructions. Contact State of Comics before completing the order. |
Prepare and Deliver Your Books
Keep each book in the same order shown on the CGC packing slip.
Use a properly prepared window bag whenever possible so the signer can safely access the intended signature area.
Label each book or window bag with your name, CGC order number and requested signer. Follow any extra instructions in the State of Comics event listing.
Bring or ship the books to State of Comics by our event deadline. Do not send them directly to CGC unless State of Comics specifically instructs you to do so.
Include the CGC order number and any packing slip the system provides. Keep a copy for your records.

IMPORTANT: Do not get the book signed before the approved witnessed signing. CGC does not accept photos, video, certificates of authenticity or personal testimony as a substitute for an authorized witness. If a book is already in a CGC holder, do not crack it yourself—contact State of Comics first. |
What Happens Next
State of Comics reviews and accepts the online submission. Once items are received they will be marked as received, then keeps the books within the required Signature Series chain of custody.
An authorized CGC witness observes the signing. State of Comics then completes the facilitator portion and sends the books to CGC.
You can track the order from your CGC account. During this process CGC may show statuses such as Pending Facilitator Approval, Accepted by Facilitator, Completed by Facilitator and received/processing statuses.
Once received by CGC, CGC grading, pressing, add-on services and return shipping are charged according to the selections on your CGC order. Autograph and facilitator fees follow the specific State of Comics event terms.
Return delivery follows the shipping selection and event instructions shown for your order.

Stop. Confirm that the event is live and still accepting submissions before choosing anything else. Convention submission can only be accepted during show hours. once the last day ends no more submissions will be accepted for grading. |

It is not eligible for a witnessed Signature Series label unless a qualifying new signature is witnessed. JSA authentication is a separate service, is charged accordingly, and cannot be on the same submission as a regular witnessed signature |

Existing CGC slab |
You can open the current graded comic if it is a universal label. If it is a signature series, DO NOT CRACK IT OPEN. Contact State of Comics so any removal and additional signature remain within the required process and chain of command. Additionally regraded book is not guaranteed to keep the same grade. |
